The Inspiring Story of Dashing Digits Mobile Salon
Things were getting harder for Channa. She felt like she wasn’t making enough money to take care of her family, and bills were piling up fast. In desperation, Channa gathered her courage and started doing her friends’ nails and lashes in 2012 to pay bills and feed her babies. She would drive to people’s homes to perform the services, or they would come to her. While working alone and wanting to do more to grow her business, Channa told a friend about the work she had been doing, and her friend decided to join her.
In 2015, Channa and her business partner established Dashing Digits Mobile Salon LLC. The name was fun to create. They figured that since they were dashing to people’s locations and “dashing” is also a compliment, it would fit perfectly. They hired a professional to design their logo and began branding everything under their new business umbrella.
As the mobile business grew, they ran out of room in their homes for supplies. They started searching for a space to store and restock their mobile kits before heading out to appointments. However, they quickly fell in love with the space and decided to turn it into a salon. Channa and Kimberly spent days and nights setting up the salon—adding manicure and pedicure chairs, wall murals, and products. They kept the design simple, aiming for an eco-friendly, smaller footprint, and as toxic-free as possible.
Eventually, Kimberly exited the business to focus on her family, and Channa has been running the business ever since.

Rebuilding and Thriving Through Challenges
Channa Bun started her mobile business, Dashing Digits Mobile Salon LLC, as a single mom raising three children. Balancing motherhood and running a business was no easy task. It required a lot of hard work, but her children were her motivation to create a better life for them. Through many struggles, Channa had to figure out how to start and sustain her business, as a traditional job wasn’t enough to support her family. The challenges of running a business became even greater during COVID. Channa faced significant struggles because her work required face-to-face interaction to provide services. This meant she was unable to work and generate income during that time, which created financial challenges and made it difficult to survive without a steady income base. The passing of her mother caused Channa to miss more work, and she had to change how she ran the business. Channa could no longer afford employees due to rising wages and found herself unprepared for the challenges.
Channa transitioned the business to a new model, shifting from hiring employees to renting out stations. She also expanded into retail to generate more revenue. Along the way, Channa received invaluable help and support from CACCWA. Their workshops and resources kept her informed, up-to-date, and, most importantly, reminded her that she wasn’t alone. That sense of community made all the difference.

Channa met Ming Chanphally, who is part of CACCWA. Ming introduced her to the organization, which has since become an invaluable source of support through funding, workshops, and resources.
